If you enjoy yoga, like myself, and you hear about a Yogathon event going on in your own city, I'm sure you'd be just as excited as I was to check it out!
I honestly had never heard of a Yogathon before. I assumed it was like a festival, where they have tons of booths set up with yoga information, different classes to sign up for, healthy snacks, etc. Well, what a surprise! Keith and I showed up to the event (which was at the Race Tracks) and was shocked to see that participants were there to do yoga for as long as they could. The whole event was from 11am-7pm. It was a fundraising event raising awareness and support of Breast Cancer.
Well, Keith and I had plans later in the day, so we only ended up staying for 2 hours. We attended two Hatha Yoga classes. Each class was about 50 minutes long and each class was held in the same place- outside near the tracks with the yoga instructor(s) in the front on a stage. It was funny though because a lot of cameramen were there taking photos of us and others holding the various yoga poses. I'll have to check their website to see if any good ones turned out!
The whole event was nicely organized and the yoga class was at a pretty intense, advanced level. Keith and I really enjoyed it and felt very sore (at least I did!) the following day. I don't know how I would have been able to continue doing yoga for 8 hrs! Maybe I'll try next year:)
Since the event was a fundraiser, the $30 that we paid went towards donations. We also received a goody bag filled with a towel, shirt, water bottles and a thermos! What a nice surprise!
I really loved the entire event and hope to do it next year (and for a longer time!).
